The Benefits of Ecodan
Heating homes with Ecodan air to water heat pumps is now a viable and credible alternative to traditional methods and can help to combat rising energy bills through greater efficiency.
By using an Ecodan to provide space heating and hot water, it is possible to reduce a home’s CO2 emissions and running costs.
Ecodan uses inverter-driven heat pump technology to harvest and upgrade free, renewable energy from the outdoor air to deliver heating and hot water, even in temperatures as low as -25°C.
For every 1kW of electrical input energy, Ecodan harvests and upgrades renewable heat from the outdoor air to provide the home with an average of at least 3.2kW of heat output
Outstanding benefits:
- Energy monitoring as standard
- Meets NZEB regulations
- Improves energy use leading to lower running costs and CO2 emissions
- No gas supply, flues or ventilation, therefore poses no carbon monoxide risk
- Low noise levels – Ecodan has achieved the Noise Abatement Society’s Quiet Mark
Benefits of Underfloor Heating
HIGHLY EFFICIENT
Underfloor heating uses lower flow temperatures than traditional radiators, covering much larger surface areas and still able to heat effectively. It is around 25% more efficient than a radiator system.
SAFETY
Underfloor heating has no exposed hot or sharp edges providing a safe option for young children and the elderly. It also provides a much safer environment for household pets.
OPEN PLAN LIVING
UFH is an ‘invisible’ heating system as the tube is hidden beneath the floor. This frees up precious wall space, ideal for open plan living and rooms such as kitchens where space is at a premium.
LUXURIOUS COMFORT
The temperature will be consistent around your rooms and home, for example one corner will not be cooler than the other as is often the case with a radiator system
LOW MAINTENANCE
Perhaps one of the most popular reasons why people choose to install underfloor heating is simply because it very rarely ever requires any form of maintenance once it has been fitted. Our pipe comes with a 50-year manufacturer warranty.
HEALTH & HYGIENE
UFH is generally understood to create a healthier environment for asthma and hay fever sufferers as it removes convection currents caused by radiator heating and the dust mites and pollen they transport around the room. There is also less danger of burns against radiators.
HEATS UP QUICKLY
With the latest technology, the myth of underfloor heating taking a long time to heat a room has disappeared. With our systems we find it takes on average around 40 minutes for the floors to heat up, and with remote app control you can turn it on around an hour before you arrive home.
USE ON MOST SURFACES
Many people think of underfloor heating as being reliant upon solid surface flooring such as tile or stone. However, this is not necessarily true, and in fact, such a heating system can now work under near enough any kind of floor – vinyl, engineered wood, carpet, laminate etc
What is Heat Recovery Ventilation?
When we started designing and supplying heat recovery ventilation systems the main reason to have a heat recovery system was to recover the heat normally lost through the conventional bathroom extractor fans and air supply vents built into the windows and walls in every room and a heat recovery system achieves this very well with recovering over 90% of the normally lost heat.
But a heat recovery system does so much more and is now more important than most other systems you will be installing into your home!
- Improving the indoor air quality by filtering all the incoming air
- Prevents mould and condensation
- Provides natural cooling in warm weather by supplying fresh filtered air
- Removes bad odours
- Helps with asthma and other health issues
- Distributes heat evenly throughout your home
- Eliminates the need for bathroom extractor fans and window air vents
- Complies with all building control regulations
- And of course, recovers up to 90% of your normally wasted heat
Building control and legislation?
Over the last decade there has been increasing demand on builders, architects and government legislation to increase the thermal efficiency of our homes making them draught free and well insulated. This in turn has caused poorer air quality which can significantly increase the effects of asthma and other respiratory problems, health problems, condensation, mould, dust mites, unpleasant smells and build up of toxic gases.
For health reasons Government legislation now makes it almost compulsory for your new air tight home to have a balanced mechanical ventilation system and a heat recovery ventilation system is the most preferred option.
